Polytechnic West’s training restaurant The Bentley Pines won a Gold Plate award for Best Restaurant within a Training Establishment. The restaurant is operated by apprentice chefs and front-of-house hospitality students.
The Bentley Pines has won the award four times in the last seven years, previously winning in 2008, 2009 and 2013. Polytechnic West Managing Director Jill Jamieson said winning the award two years running was a great honour and represents the quality of training delivered to students.
"In the Bentley Pines we have world-class facilities complemented by lecturers with years of industry experience, who keep abreast of the latest industry trends through working closely with Perth’s leading hospitality and restaurant employers" she said.
"The end result is a fantastic training restaurant that enables students to put their skills into practice in a real workplace, offering the community a wide selection of dining options and top quality service."
The Gold Plate Awards, conducted by The Catering Institute of Australia, have run since 1967 with a strong reputation in the hospitality industry.
The Bentley Pines offers diners an array of food options, from a-la-carte to buffet style, as well as a bistro service at lunchtime on weekdays. The venue also hosts events such as the Great Chefs & Great Wines dinner series, involving guest chefs from high profile restaurants around Perth taking charge of the kitchen and student-chefs for a night to deliver customers an exciting dining experience.
Polytechnic West’s Bentley Pines Restaurant is open Monday to Friday during school terms. Prices are from $25 for lunch and dinner, plus drinks. Bookings are essential and can be made on 9267 7219.
